the confort, the staff
Price is good and the rooms are confortables.
Spacious room, and spacious bathroom, in New York standard of course. Good value for city travelers. Location is convenient but not ideal -- in a Fujianese part of China Town. As travelers from China, we did not intend to stay in China Town, but since it was called Lower East, it did not occur to us that it was an extension of China Town when booked. Travelers from China who do not speak much English might find it convenient to stay in this area. Room was very warm.
No window in our room. Since the hotel is a slice of the building, I'd say quite many rooms had no windows. Only Chinese shops in the neighbourhood, so if you feel like a beer or some snacks late in the night, you couldn't find a convenient store close by. The vending machine in the hotel had only soft drinks.
Room on bridge/train side is quite loud. Front desk had ear plugs which were uncomfortable to sleep in and it was still difficult to get a good night's sleep because the train vibrates the hotel. Did ask to see if there was a room available on the other side, but the hotel was full except for one room on the 6th floor, which was parallel to the train, which was even louder.
Hotel was clean, but had the raw seafood smell on the first floor. Room was tight but had enough room for two double beds that were very comfortable. Really noisy at night due to the hotel is located right next to the manhattan train.
no room mini frig for left over food. Noisy from train,,,,,all day and night. Front desk charge 2 dollars per bag to store luggage after check out.
The best thing I liked about my stay was the comfort of the room. The beds were very nice. It was also roomy for the price. I've stayed in higher priced hotels with much less space. Having a taxi service available to the airport was convenient.
proximity to subway and Soho
The staff, cleanliness and location of the hotel was perfect for us, in the heart of china town I was a little reserved on my expectations, however i was totally pleasantly suprised, i felt safe the hotel was very perfect for what we wanted to do (tour, drink and eat). I can truly say it was perfect for me and my friends, and perfect is a word that doesnt leave my lips easily. Value money, but if u want something a little bit more luxurious then this is not for u, but if like me its cleanliness, comfort and location your after, hotel 91 is the place for you. Enjoy.
It was clean and no frills but was just what was needed for a base to explore nyc. Easily accessible to local subways and within walking distance of Brooklyn Bridge, business quarter, Statton Island Ferry, Little Italy etc
Possibly a little noisy as very close to the railway line but triple glazing eased the noise! Also in the heart of China Town so very arresting sights and smells which some may find off putting. Decor somewhat tired.
No coffea/tea in rooms
bed sheets had a javex smell and not pleasant. Lighting in room really bad. Had a room with 2 double beda and only 1bedside lamp.no other lighting in bedroom. Area really bad.
It was reasonably priced in a good location although the maid kept short sheeting the beds. Or the sheets were not big enough for the beds. Was a little annoying.
The carpet in the room was grubby
Hotel room was very clean. Beds were excellent.
Cable tv had very few free channels. Some channels had no audio and some channels were frozen. Not enough soap or shampoo. A bit noisy on the back side of the Manhattan Bridge!!!
Access to the Metro system was good. If you like Chinese food then you are in the right place. It is close to many good but budget friendly restaurants. Also handy to the lower east side shopping districts. It is good value for money considering you are on Manhattan Island and get to anywhere on the metro within 20 to 30 minutes or so.
The only issue is that it is located right next to the Manhattan Bridge and the trains pass very close to the hotel. If you arent used to noise then you will have an issue as it is 24/7 with the trains.
a good, cllean, friendly, no-nonsense hotel
